Director Steve McQueen and actor Michael Fassbender will team up for the third
time on Mr. McQueen's film "Twelve Years A Slave", which will begin filming
sometime within the next year.
The tandem have developed a solid rapport over the years. Mr. McQueen
directed Mr. Fassbender in "Hunger", which opened in the U.S. in 2008.
Both received acclaim for their work. This year Mr. McQueen's drama
"Shame", about a sex-obsessed man (played by Mr. Fassbender) in New York City,
has received much critical attention and garnered Mr. Fassbender a Best Actor
award at last month's Venice Film Festival. "Shame" is slated to open
sometime this year.
"Twelve Years A Slave" is based on a true story of a man living in New York City
who was kidnapped and sold into slavery in the Deep South in the 1800s.
Chiwetel Ejiofor plays the title role.
Mr. Fassbender has had a busy 2011 on the big screen. He starred opposite
Mia Wasikowska in
"Jane Eyre" and was in
"X-Men: First
Class" and David Cronenberg's "A Dangerous Method", the latter of
which opens in November.
