Asghar Farhadi's drama from Iran is a fascinating tale of a woman, her ex-husband (Ali Mosaffa) and her husband-to-be (Tahar Rahim) caught in a secret and lie that has constricted their lives.  Mr. Farhadi's supremely well-written tale is set in Paris and the acting is phenomenal.  Berenice Bejo has the role of a complex woman who tries to hold everything together.  Expertly crafted and viewed from each character's perspective, "The Past (Le Passé)" is both revelatory and electrifying.  Its atmosphere grips you, as does its trial-like procedure and psychological dimensions.  I loved this intelligent adult film, which grows on you minute by minute.

Released December 2013.  Rated PG-13.  Two hours ten minutes.  Review soon.  Distributor: Sony Pictures Classics
